Ocala and Marion County, Florida are home to major companies that are diversified and innovative.  A few of our largest employers, like E-ONE and Atheros (formerly Intellon), originated in this community. 

Longevity in a community is a strong testimony to a company’s satisfaction with their location. Lockheed Martin opened a manufacturing operation in Marion County in 1970 as Martin Marietta. The facility has expanded several times and now employs close to 800 workers. Lockheed has been able to assemble and retain an impressive team in Ocala, and in 2009 was selected Manufacturer of the Year by the Manufacturers Association of Florida, as well as one of the Top 10 in the nation!
 

Pictured at Left: When Governor Crist was looking for a community to sign important economic development legislation, he chose Marion County. Crist signed HB 127 that designated Ocala's Enterprise Zone. The ceremonial signing was held at Lockheed Martin.
